Posh Pony Assisted Learning (AL) programs are a unique way of fostering awareness, development and growth with people who are looking for a gentle, natural way of facilitating change.

We work with you to build your capacity, working towards your goals in a fun, supported, natural environment.

We utilise intrinsic motivation to help you actively engage, problem solve, build confidence and develop life skills.

Working in nature, particularly with animals including horses teaches us vital life skills such as trust, respect and honesty as well as the importance and impact of both verbal and non-verbal communication.

AL is open to all ages, all genders, all abilities. We work at your pace to achieve your goals.

We tailor our sessions to develop your specific learning outcomes, NDIS goals.

We take a holistic approach to physical and emotional well-being.

For therapeutic sessions, we’ve teamed up with Super Groms Therapies. Together we offer fun, occupational therapy assisted sessions with horses, our other animals and our beautiful suburban farm features.

Posh Pony is fully insured and NDIS registered. All AL sessions are held in Kurnell.

Some of the many benefits of assisted learning

SPARKS
INTEREST

Using a horse or pony, dog, chicken or plant as a catalyst often sparks self-initiated and interest-based learning. That spark of interest can lead us down many paths toward exciting discoveries to maintain engagement and maximise the learning opportunities that are uncovered.

DEVELOPS FINE AND
GROSS MOTOR SKILLS

If the client has specific goals or skills they want to improve, we tailor our sessions around those goals. These could include brushing or washing a horse, plaiting their mane, playing with sawdust in their stable or planting seeds.

PROMOTES AUTONOMY
AND CONFIDENCE

Our sessions promote autonomy and nurture self-esteem and self-worth to encourage our clients to be self-motivated to achieve challenging tasks. Being in nature is grounding and promotes feelings of calm and well-being and is believed to strengthen the immune system.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR
SENSORY
DEVELOPMENT

Being in nature reduces many of the sensory impacts that continually flood our system, bombard and derail us. This enables us to take a breath, take some time and relax in an environment where you are supported to develop skills at your pace.

ENCOURAGES
EMOTIONAL
REGULATION

Being in the presence of a large animal and having them respond to your actions and behaviours teaches us the importance of both our verbal and non-verbal communication. It can often lead to the safe release of emotions that have been building.

NURTURES UNDERSTANDING OF NATURE AND OUR PLACE IN THE WORLD

Learning about animals and nature helps develop understanding and empathy for others. It promotes feelings of calm, well-being and mindfulness whilst also working on social skills, relieving anxiety and stress.
