Posh Pony Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) programs are a unique way of fostering awareness, development and growth with people who are looking for a gentle, natural way of facilitating change.

Working with horses teaches us vital life skills such as trust, respect and honesty as well as the importance and impact of both verbal and non-verbal communication.

EAL is open to all ages, all genders, all abilities. We work at your pace to achieve your goals.

We tailor our sessions to develop your specific learning outcomes, NDIS goals.

We take a holistic approach to physical and emotional well-being.

Posh Pony is fully insured and NDIS registered. All EAL sessions are held in Kurnell.

Some of the many benefits of EAL

SPARKS
INTEREST

Using the horse or pony as a catalyst often sparks self-initiated and interest-based learning. That spark of interest can lead us down many paths toward exciting discoveries to maintain engagement and maximise the learning opportunities that are uncovered.

DEVELOPS FINE AND
GROSS MOTOR SKILLS

If the client has specific goals or skills they want to improve, we tailor our sessions around those goals. These could include brushing or washing the horse, plaiting their main, painting their hooves or simply patting them.

PROMOTES AUTONOMY
AND CONFIDENCE

Our sessions promote autonomy and nurture self-esteem and self-worth to encourage our clients to be self-motivated to achieve challenging tasks.  Being around horses and ponies is grounding and promotes feelings of calm and well-being and is believed to strengthen the immune system.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR
SENSORY
DEVELOPMENT

If the client has specific goals or skills they want to improve, we tailor our sessions around those goals. These could include brushing or washing the horse, plaiting their main, painting their hooves or simply patting them.

ENCOURAGES
EMOTIONAL
REGULATION

Being in the presence of a large animal and having them respond to your actions and behaviours teaches us the importance of both our verbal and non-verbal communication. It can often lead to the safe release of emotions that have been building.

NURTURES UNDERSTANDING OF NATURE AND OUR PLACE IN THE WORLD

Learning about animals and nature helps develop understanding and empathy for others. It promotes feelings of calm, well-being and mindfulness whilst also working on social skills, relieving anxiety and stress.
